ROTR
Major ROTR Updates
Ron Williams — Mon, 2009-08-31 11:50
ROTR has had one crazy weekend. We've updated our entire site to extend our conservative reach. During the downtime we performed the following:
- Created new and updated logo
- Moved to and modified new theme
- Merged Right Bump with ROTR
- Changed ROTR must-reads to Voted Links allowing user submissions and ratings
- Required login to post Voted Links and comments
- Added openid support
- Added CAPTCHA's to reduce spam
Right Bump is a conservative blog oriented social networking site, we decided that the features on that site would be very useful here, so we have combined the two sites. We're very excited to have the users of Right Bump on ROTR.
There were many considerations regarding requiring login for comments. I understand many are against requiring signup for comments, but with OpenID added to the site you can use a single login on numerous websites utilizing Blogger, WordPress (where enabled), Drupal (where enabled), and many others. We have also decided to require a CAPTCHA on submitting comments, Voted Links, user registration, and contact forms.
So how do these changes benefit you? You now have the ability to directly link your website from the front page of ROTR with a Voted Link. All you need to do is setup an account, create a Voted Link and depending on the number of votes your link receives, you will be listed on the front page. Be sure to login to see the new voting features!
In the next couple weeks we plan to add an aggregated front-page votes page which will drive even more traffic to your websites directly from other blogs.
Thanks for your patience during the upgrade and if you really like the new features, we would greatly appreciate you blogging about us!
Yes it is That Time Again.
Ben Graham — Mon, 2009-04-27 09:13
The time has come again when the frazzled and worn out students of Cedarville University spend countless hours cramming useless information into their heads so that they can spew it onto a Scantron for a professor. Yes I am talking about exam time! For this reason the postings have been a little light lately but I promise that next week I will be back to my old habits of posting almost daily.
Thanks for your patience.
Spring Break!
Ben Graham — Mon, 2009-03-02 02:19
Hey everyone, I'm sorry about the lack of posting as of late. Last week I had a ton of studying that I had to do for tests and papers before spring break. But as of tomorrow I will officially be on spring break! That means I will be back to my normal at least daily posting. And because it is 1am it is already Monday so coming up is your Monday cartoon.
Thanks for you patience.

Bipartisanship: Do we have it?
Ben Graham — Sun, 2009-02-08 11:51

Obama in his race for the White house promised a new era of bipartisanship would be brought to the White House. But has it? I don't think so. This is illustrated well with this new stimulus bill. What bipartisanship is there? By my definition there isn't any. Yes there was a vote held on a GOP stimulus, and yes there was a closed door meeting with the House Republicans. But is this really bipartisanship? Bipartisanship would be both Republican and Democratic ideas in the bill. There is no such compromises in the bill as far as I can see.
Fulfilling that promise has proven to be a bit harder to implement then Obama originally thought. You see, the Democrats control both the House and the Senate. With this control, the Democratic Congressman and Senators can put things into the bill that they would like to see. Everyone on the Democratic side puts their requests in, and then it is the Republicans turn. But true to form Republicans are against the requests that the Democrats put into the bill. The human nature takes over and Democrats do not want give up their part of the bill, And here we are with no bipartisanship.
President Obama next time you promise bipartisanship please take into account human nature.
