Ellison Withdraws from Nazi Talk

Keith Ellison, who compared Bush to Hitler, is now ready to step back and say sorry. Apparently, the public backlash was a little too much for the Democrat to handle. Via Yahoo:
WASHINGTON - The nation's first Muslim congressman said Tuesday that he erred in comparing the Bush administration's response to Sept. 11 to an event that led to Adolf Hitler's consolidation of power in Nazi Germany.
At an appearance before a group of atheists in Minnesota on July 8, Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., called Sept. 11 "the juggernaut" that led to war, tolerating torture and increased discrimination against religious minorities.
Even Keith Ellison realizes that Keith Ellison was wrong. He continues to run from his previous remarks, but tries not to take the blame for the weight of his insults:
"In hindsight, I wouldn't have used that reference point," Ellison told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Tuesday. "It was probably inappropriate to use that example, because it's a unique historical event, without really any clear parallels."
Ellison said he remains harshly critical of the Bush administration.
"I believe that they have exploited the fears that grew from 9/11, in order to pass legislation and even start wars they could have never gotten away with but for that tragedy," he said.
What's this say to me? "I want to compare 9/11 to the Reichstag Fire by describing that event, but I'm not actually saying Reichstag Fire this time." That's how I read it at least.

Democrat Keith Ellison, the first muslim elected to Congress, made headlines on my site yesterday because he compared the Reichstag fire and the use of that fire to make war, with 9/11 and the use of that event in justifying war in the Middle East. He thus indirectly compared the leaders of the respective countries during these events, Bush and Hitler.
Robert Spencer from Jihad Watch now takes on Ellison, and his Reichstag-related lunacy. Check it out.
Liberal Lunatic Keith Ellison

America's first muslim Congressman Keith Ellison is a liberal lunatic, for a couple reasons. First off, there's a lot of talk that he may be a truther, like our good friend Heather, who believes 9/11 was an inside job. Watching him speak, that's not a stretch. He believes 9/11 is an enabling event, apparently being used as an excuse for torture. I'd like to see some evidence. Oh, and he of course compares Bush to Hitler.
First off, to answer the question proposed about Dick Cheney and which branch he belongs in, it's the legislative branch. The Constitution gives Cheney no executive powers, and he's only the head of the Senate. That being said, Cheney is involved in meetings with people IN the executive branch, thus his invoking executive priveledge (this came up regarding prior conversations with the Secretary of Energy). Secondly, we're not torturing people, and of course 9/11 was a monumental event in human history. If Ellison wasn't too busy talking to terrorists, just like Ted Strickland, he might realize the importance of 9/11.
