Ralph Nader
Ralphie Jumps In

Way back in July of last year I blogged about Nader considering another run for President. He's now officially throwing his hat into the ring. Here's the news about everyone's favorite alleged spoiler:
WASHINGTON (AP) – Ralph Nader is launching a third-party campaign for president.
The consumer advocate made the announcement Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” He says most Americans are disenchanted with the Democratic and Republican parties, and that none of the presidential contenders are addressing ways to stem corporate crime and Pentagon waste and promote labor rights.
Nader also ran as a third-party candidate in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections. He is still loathed by many Democrats who call him a spoiler and claim his candidacy in 2000 cost the party the election by siphoning votes away from Al Gore in a razor-thin contest in Florida.
The truth of the matter is, he didn't spoil anything back in 2000. The people that voted for Nader would've stayed home, because they didn't like either George Bush or Al Gore. The idea that Nader supporters would've all went Democrat is factually ludicrous. Welcome to the fun again Ralphie.
Ralphie Considering Another Run

Bloomberg is considering an Independent run that some postulate may hurt the GOP, and Ralph Nader is once against considering a run that many would like us to believe would hurt Democrats.
RALPH NADER SAYS HE IS CONSIDERING 2008 PRESIDENTIAL RUN
Consumer advocate Ralph Nader told the Green Party’s national convention that he is considering a 2008 presidential run and accused Democrats of trying to shut smaller parties out of the political process.
“No other country comes close to providing voters with such a small number of choices and making third party candidates hurdle an almost insuperable number of obstacles just to get on the ballot,” Nader, the Green Party’s 2000 presidential nominee, said Saturday.
Later, addressing a few hundred conventioneers who chanted “Run Ralph Run,” Nader exhorted Greens to focus on raising money to boost their competitiveness.
I would never vote for Nader, as in an e-mail sent to supporters he once proposed a "maximum wage" of sorts. I also think that he would put unnecessary restrictions on business that would screw over the American economy. I do think though, after pulling over 2 1/2 % over the popular vote, Nader should be given a shot at a national run. Third parties won't hurt a Conservative-minded GOP. And a reminder that Republicans weren't the ones that targeted Nader:
He ran as an independent in 2004 but was removed from the ballot in Pennsylvania and other large states after Democrats challenged his nominating petitions.
