Video: Piper Palin's Hair Stylings

I know my posting here has been light as of light, and the following video is sort of "light" also. In the midst of Sarah Palin's amazing speech last night, several moments were shining examples of just how normal her family is. The beaming smiles on her children's faces as they saw their mother in the spotlight, the proud husband, and this:

Yes, this country did avoid

Yes, this country did avoid the disaster that would have been a McLame/Impalin presidency.

Now, FOAD.

McCain/ Palin: Promise Kept, Respect Revealed

When I had the honor of meeting Senator John McCain in February, I thanked him for not forgetting Michigan. He shook my hand, looked me in the eye, and said emphatically, “And I won’t. I won’t.” Now, I realize that John McCain has made more specific promises to more significant people in Michigan than me, but I want you to know that he, in fact, has not forgotten us, for he is bringing his new running mate to Michigan tomorrow, just a day after the close of the Republican convention.

It does not surprise me that John McCain continues to appeal to my home state. I did not expect him to make an appeal to my gender.

Governor Sarah Palin was not unknown to me. I did a little online research on her this spring, when I heard her name mentioned as a running mate long-shot. I was impressed, but assumed she wouldn’t get the nod. Then, when I heard that she had been named as his running mate, I became nervous. What if she was a disappointment? She would reduce the idea of a female Vice President to that of a political ploy. She would set feminist progress backward, not forward.

Then last night she delivered THE SPEECH. Wow. Here is a woman who is completely unapologetic for being NORMAL, for being PRACTICAL, for being from a SMALL TOWN, for being a MOM, a REPUBLICAN, and a WOMAN. In other words, she is unapologetic for being just like so many of us! She didn’t begin her political career at The Harvard Review! She began it at the PTA! How wonderful is that? She got involved out of a sincere desire to make things better, not because of a life-long ambition to lead.

And, as I watched her speak, something else dawned on me. I recognized her brand of humor, her cynical perspective. She is that practical kind of conservative that was born into a world where the superiority of our country could no longer be presumed, where our progress could no longer be guaranteed. I realized she is roughly my age, born on the cusp of the Baby Boomers and Generation X.

John McCain is an incredibly intelligent, proven man. He is the Reagan Republican I have been wishing to see in the Oval Office since Ronald himself left it. I supported John McCain in 2000, and I would have voted for him this year regardless of his choice of running mate. But, much to my surprise, in choosing Sarah Palin as his running mate, he has shown his respect for my gender and for my generation. That is something I will not forget.

piper

I'm overwhelmed. Sarah Palin and her beautiful family, her convictions and her conscience are a blessing to the GOP and USA. OMG I pray that this country does not pass this blessing by.
