More Griping about Illegals
- Posted by kender on May 23rd, 2007 in
Many years ago there was a mad rush to immigrate to the U.S. by people from all over the world. Indeed we have had many waves of immigrants here in the U.S. in our history, and the one thing that all of those waves had in common was that they were full of people that wanted to immigrate here and BECOME an American.
They came here and learned to speak english, the predominant language.
They came here and started celebrating our holidays, like the Fourth of July.
And they came here and paid attention to the politics and proudly voted, for that, more than the english or fireworks, was a sign of being a citizen of this great country.
Our current wave of immigrants, the legal ones, seem to want to do the same thing. They wait in line to come here, learn english and get a job once they are here. They try to BECOME an American.
The invaders that have snuck into this country by the millions, however, don't seem to want to be Americans. They don't seem to try to learn the language. They don't seem to want to do things legally. They only seem to want to march in our streets calling us racists for demanding that our government do the job they swore to do back in 1986 when they gave amnesty to the 3 million illegals that were here then.
They march with the flags of their homelands, saying that our economy would collapse without them, and that we should be grateful to have a large group of law-breaking laborers at our beck and call.
I am tired of hearing these people stating that they are here doing the work that Americas won't do. That is a lie. They are doing the work that Americans won't do FOR THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY.
All the work they do could very well be done by teenagers ( and kids that have just got out of school and are waiting to go to college or find a career.
Throw out the 12 million illegals and watch the job market sizzle for the under skilled and teen aged demographics. Get rid of the illegals and watch our unemployment rate be at an historic low overnight.
Our senators are ignoring us and moving forward with their plans and wishes as if we were a bunch of petulant 6 year olds begging for candy before dinner.
They are, frankly, acting as if they run this country.
You know, it has been in my head more and more lately that the Tree needs watering. It seems we have a bunch of petty tyrants on the Hill and that old tree seems to be drooping around the edges.
I think it is high time that we remind those people on the Hill who they work for and who runs this country, and it isn't a bunch of simpering cowards in thousand dollar suits.
No sirree Bob....the folks that run this country happen to be the guy down the street with the little store across town, and that woman from your church that owns a scrapbooking store. It's the taxi drivers and the bartenders, the home builders and the painters, the grocery clerks and the parking attendants and the Doctors and teachers and nurses and truckers and electricians and plumbers.
In short it is US who run the country, through our elected reps. "We the PEOPLE" run this grand experiment, and to let if fail because we have become too complacent in our lives is to fail all of those that have gone before us. It lessens their sacrifices and cheapens their lives, which makes our lives worthless.
Fellow citizens, if anything is worth fighting for it is our freedom, our way of life, where fairness and decency are not just words, but the battle cry of an entire country. We must fight this tyranny with all we have. This amnesty must not come into being. We must email, write, call and fax until our fingers bleed and the phone lines melt. And if that doesn't work we will have no choice but to stand up and yell NO MORE!
You will not be allowed free reign to destroy all the greatness that America has wrought. It is better that we perish defending this wholesome and noble idea than it is to live under the boot heel of a tyrannical government that would sell out our safety and freedom, and the legacy we leave for our children simply so they can be perceived as kind.
My dear countrymen, join me. Join me and together we can make a difference, whether it is made at the end of a pen or a blade remains to be seen, but if we do not stand up and fight now, all will be lost.

Wal Mart
What I said is that Wal Mart offers jobs at more than the minimum wage.
The market drives prices and Wal Mart employs a million people. They offer more than the government requires and did not need the government to tell them that. They also offer stock purchase and other benefits to help people. The point was not to say you had to be smart to work there. The point was to show that since Wal Mart has a lot of jobs and they need workers (more jobs than workers available) they have to pay more than the minimum wage to attract people.
I believe you just misread what I wrote.
hey chicagokid...
scroll up and read the first comment that is meant for you....

Wait a second here...
You said that Wal-Mart is offering jobs at a higher salary because of the law of supply and demand. I am sorry, but you don't have to be that smart to work at Wal-Mart. In fact, I think the only requirement is a high school diploma, if that. How is that showing a low supply. That was just a dumb comment.
Minimum wage
Wages should be determined by the market. Increasing the wage for jobs across the board just forces employers to pay more money to people who do not have the skills worthy of that amount of money. The minimum wage is not meant to be a wage to live your life on, it is a wage for people with little or no skills.
Basic economics, if the cost of something is low more of it will be bought and if the cost of something is high less of it will be bought. If we increase the cost of labor there will be fewer people hired to perform that labor. In every state where the minimum wage has been raised above the federal level unemployment has gone up.
You see, the government can force an employer by law to pay a certain wage but can not force that employer to hire a certain number of people. The government can not force an employer to offer $7 jobs wages to people with $4.50 skills.
The government really has no business dictating how much an employer pays his employees. Suppose all employers decided that they were only going to pay the minimum? There are many businesses that start people at more than the minimum (including Wal Mart). Supply and demand for jobs and certain job skills should decide how much an employee is paid.
OK ChicagoKid, tell your mommy...
...to fill up your bottle and make sure your diaper is clean, cuz I am about to make you crap yourself by pointing out not only your ignorance of this subject and life in general but your astounding idiotic statements regarding this issue that you seem to know nothing about.
Let's take your points one by one shall we?
The fact that Mexico is not a good place to live is not reason enough for us to turn a blind eye to illegal immigration. We send Mexico billions of economic aid (not counting the 20 billion their citizens send to Mexico every year) and many companies have relocated there as well. If that were the case we should haul a bunch of people from Africa to live here every year, as Africa is much worse off than Mexico. It is not our fault or problem that Mexico sucks. It is the fault of their people having an entitlement mentality and lacking the courage or will to change their government.
BS.....they can't afford to come over here legally but they can pay a coyote several thousand dollars to be snuck into the country?
Next point boy...
BS again......educated workers are worth more, hence the lower pay scale for dummies. When you have a glut of workers wages drop because there are only so many jobs to go around, and the person that is willing to work for the lowest wages gets first call. The person that wants higher wages won't get the job, especially in low skilled jobs. How old are you anyway, five? Your arguments are ridiclous.
Next:
Really? Tell that to the countless teens that cannot get jobs in the inner cities due to illegals taking and keeping the entry level jobs that were once their domains, like fast food and busboy and carwash jobs. Jobs that were once filled with local teens are now taken and kept by illegals. I live in L.A. son, and have watched this happen with my own eyes over the last many years. Before you spout off on someone's website you should get your facts straight.
We continue:
Go google the name "Raymond Herrera." He is a friend of mine and a spokesman for the Minuteman Project. He is an American Citizen, born and raised, a Veteran to boot and cannot get a job in his industry (construction) because the illegals work much cheaper. Your mom should smack some sense into you Chicago Kid, because the more I write this response the angrier I get that someone so stupid can walk and breath at the same time.
Our immigration policy is not broken. It is backlogged due to the high number of people that want to come here every year. We allow (legally) more people to immigrate to the U.S. every year than all other countries on the planet allow into their countries COMBINED. What we need is enforcement, not appeasement.
ChicagoKid, I am thinking that you probably need to wring out your drool bib and adjust your helmet. You are thoroughly retarded and this comment proves it. Minimum wage is the government stepping in and taking away my right to negotiate for my salary. Every time that the minimum wage is raised all other wages are suddenly worth less asnd unemployment ticks up. Minimum wage is paid to about 10% of the workers in this country, for jobs that don't require any thought or skill. Frankly working at McDonlads is not worth minimum wage if you are flipping burgers or pressing buttons and a register, and the minimum wage law only makes our burgers cost more. By the way, I have worked for minimum wage alongside illegal aliens. The difference was that was going somewhere with my career, and they simply wanted money to send home, so I worked my way up while they didn't. None of them wanted to BE an American. See the difference yet little boy?
OK son, here is where you really pissed me off. First off if you are going to use a word you should know what it means. Nowhere in what I wrote was there a hint of racism. It is you parroting talking points and believing that anyone against illegal immigration is racist.
Racism is the belief that one race is superior to another. Show me where I said anything like that. You can't because I didn't. Your ignorance on this subject is astounding and your careless use of words will get you smacked upside your head someday. You, boy, are a moron. An ignorant fool that doesn't seem to be able to think for yourself. Go have your mommy change your diaper and find your baba because you, mu little tard, have been put the fuck to bed.
And THAT is all she wrote!!!!

Some Jobs...
...aren't worth $8 an hour, or a living wage, and you know that. The minimum wage was established nationally under America's first socialist President, FDR, and it's a BAD THING for America. The minimum wage is an unconstitutional power grab by the government, which hurts small businesses. It is NOT the government's job to make sure people earn a "living wage" period.
Socialism...
Okay, now that might have been the dumbest thing I have heard you say yet. Calling minimum wage a socialist watermark is ridiculus. It is the thing offering AMERICANS a better life. To even assume that minimum wage is a bad thing is terrible. You cannot live on minimum wage now, and you want American workers to be able to work for less than that? Americans are proud. We have a minimum wage because we know we deserve a chance at a good life. I would love to put you in the shoes of these people making minimum wage, let alone the Mexicans who are so desperate they risk thier freedom for work. You would be up in arms about this. Why is that? I believe it is because you couldn't handle that life. Being a patriot is more than just saying, "I love this country." It is doing things to better the country and the people in it. To even call minimum wage a socialist watermark goes against everything our country stands on. And, even though I did not say it in my first post, the stance offered by Kender is racist. Sure, he didn't call them Spics or Beaners, but it was racist none the less and I suggest you all watch how you say things or you are going to give the Republican Party a bad na... wait, Bush already did that so go ahead and continue blabbering without facts to support your "Supreme Ideas." What is next, are you going to bring back the Aryan Race?
For reference...
My good buddy Kender wrote this article, I didn't, but I agree with him. These people aren't competing in a fair job market, because the American workers are inhibiting by a socialist watermark called a "minimum wage."
Really?
Ok, now let me ask a question that seemed to be sitting in the back of my mind since I last talked to Justin. All of you want to get rid of the illegal immigrants. You say that they do not want to assimilate into our culture and are demanding rights. In your eyes, this is wrong. You say that they are taking the jobs of the teenagers in our country. You also stated that they are the only people willing to do the jobs at those wages. All of these arguments are ligitament if you can back it up. This comment before me is nothing but a passion driven speech full of nothing.
First of all, these illegal immigrants can be seen as political and ECONOMIC refugees. Mexico is not a good place to live. Yes, there are places like Cancun and other vacation spots, but not all of Mexico is that. There are people living there in shacks. This is not some third world country I'm talking about here. This is America's closest neighbor! These people are fleeing to America to make a better life for themselves and thier families. They are not comming over here to simply "take our jobs." They are after the American dream just as much as you and me are. America was founded on the idea that people can come here and make a better life for themselves. Now, before you start getting angry, I understand that they are not doing it the "right" way. They are not going through immigration and all of that for many reasons, first, they can't afford it. If they could, they wouldn't have to come to America for work. Secondly, it takes a long time. They don't have time to wait for the visas to go through. They need work now because if they don't get money, they will starve to death.
Now, about taking these jobs... This ticks me off. If you want it to be a fair job market, you don't limit the people comming into this country, you force the companies to pay the illegals the same ammount they would pay a citizen. Then the companies would CHOOSE to hire american workers because we are more educated. You will never be able to stop the immigrants from sneaking in. The boarder is just too large. As I saw on "Penn and Teller: Bullshit", it took a group of mexican workers 8 hours to build a 20 foot section of fence that was an exact replica of the fences trying to be built at the boarder. Then, it took them 3 minutes with tin snips to get through it. These are not cattle that a fence can stop, these are determined human beings in search of a better life. Teenagers are never going to have a hard time finding jobs. There are thousands of jobs that teenagers can do the Mexicans can't. They can't work in the food service industry. Also, I don't see many teenagers comming out of high school saying, "Hmmm... I think I am going to try to get a job at a construction site today." 90% of the people that end up in construction don't want to do that for the rest of thier lives, they do it because they didn't seek the education needed for a more advanced job. Now, I am in no way saying that construction is something just anyone can do, it takes a lot of hard work to be able to do it.
Okay, now the best way to fix this immigration problem is to fix our immigration policy. These people need our help. The best way to help this is to change our policy and make it possible to get these people to become citizens. Then we can educate thier children and they can become hardworking, upstanding citizens that you don't seem to think that will ever be possible for them. We also need to get our "Great President" and I use that term lightly, to start reforms in Mexico. Make Mexico a more bearable place to live. Get the government to stop the corruption and then the standard of life will improve there. That will make less Mexicans sneak into America. That, my friend, is the answer to this problem, not a close minded idea of building a wall to keep them out. I think someone else did something like that, oh yeah, Germany. And that is all she wrote.
